If you want to contact the New York State Department of Correctional Services to do an inmate lookup, there are some procedures of the system and some rules to follow.
You can do an Internet lookup of inmates at the facility 24 hours a day 7 days a week to get the necessary information about contacting them.
Need to send mail to an inmate in a NYSDOCS Facility?
If you want to send any mail to an inmate, use the mailing address found for the appropriate state correctional facility. On the first line of the envelope, put the inmate's name along with their Department Identification Number(DIN).
Check the state's Departmental Directive #4422 for rules and regulations about the content of correspondence. Departmental Directive #4911 talks about the rules and regulations of sending or delivering packages to inmates.
Are All Inmates Allowed Visitors at NYSDOC?
Most inmates are part of the Inmate Visitor Program so that they may have some personal contact with loved ones, relatives, and friends.
Directive #4403 tells of the rules and regulations for Department staff, visitors, and inmates within the jurisdiction of the NYS DOCS.
Likewise, most inmates may receive or send personal telephone calls from or to up to 15 different telephone numbers. Department Directive #4423 sets down their governing rules and regulations. For any other rules and regulations concerning procedures, the Department of Correctional Services website contains a list of directives concerning these.
